Nexium is an oral antacid used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) (GERD associated with GERD).
Nexium works by blocking the production of acid in the stomach lining. It’s available in a variety of dosages. One of the most common types of Nexium is Nexium 24-hour. This is when the stomach lining is at full acidity. This is when the stomach acid leaks out of the esophagus and into the esophagus itself. The esophagus absorbs a lot of stomach acid and is responsible for the symptoms of GERD. Nexium can help relieve symptoms like heartburn, sour stomach, indigestion, and upset stomach.
Take Nexium exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take Nexium more than once a day. If you are not sure if you are taking this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not give this medication to anyone else, even if they have the same condition as you. This medication can cause side effects.
